The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Southeast University now has the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Biology and Pharmaceutical Engineering. It has the Jiangsu Chemical and Chemical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Modern Analytical Testing Center, four provincial R&D and talent development platforms (Key Laboratory of Molecular and Ferroelectric Science and Application of Jiangsu Province, Key Laboratory of Biopharmaceutical High Technology Research of Jiangsu Province, Laboratory of Photoelectric Functional Materials of Jiangsu Province, Laboratory of Carbon-rich Materials and Devices Engineering of Jiangsu Province), four Research Institutes (Southeast University Institute of Fine Chemicals, Southeast University Institute of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Southeast University Ordered Material Science Research Center, Southeast University Center for Drug Research) , three School-Enterprise Joint Research Centers (SEU-Haichang/Helen (Taiwan) Biomaterials Engineering Technology Research Center, SEU-Zhongyan Changhua New Materials Research Center, SEU-Yancheng Dongyang Biological Products Research Center), and more than 30 graduated workstations in Jiangsu Province (enterprise).

The research direction of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering covers many fields such as fine chemicals, new energy, new materials, chemical biology and pharmaceuticals.The annual research funding and the number of published SCI papers have maintained a high growth rate, and it has undertaken more than 180 national-level projects such as the National 863/973 Project and the National Natural Science Foundation's Key/Major International Cooperation.
